genmaicha matcha-iri
genmaicha matcha-iri is a delightful green tea crafted from organically grown leaves, free from any pesticides, ensuring a pure and natural experience. mixed in with the tea leaves are toasted and puffed brown rice grains, which add a nutty, and subtly roasted flavor. the tea leaves and rice grains are dusted with matcha powder, lending each sip a rich, fresh taste and a vibrant green color. the toasted rice balances the of grassy brightness of the tea leaves and matcha for a delicious cup with notes of seaweed.
genmaicha is one of the most popular teas in japan and it is usually produced with lower grade, third and fourth harvest leaves. later harvested teas are often treated with high levels of pesticides as insects are an issue in the summer and fall, unlike the first harvests that occur in the spring, when insects have largely not yet returned following the winter. this is why we prefer to offer a pesticide free genmaicha product. our genmaicha uses a blend of first and second harvest tea leaves (“ichibancha” and “nibancha”) from JAS organic certified farms.
each bag contains 100g of tea.
season: a blend of first and second harvest tea leaves
cultivar: primarily yabukita
origin: kyoto, japan
processing and harvest: machine trimmed
elevation: varied
